Synopsis Justine is pretty average. Average height, looks, age, background and she has always earned an average wage. Yet she has one thing that can seem in short supply these days: financial independence. For some women the mere mention of words like 'budget' and 'pension' are enough to bring them out in a nasty rash. But with a bit of thought anyone can improve their relationship with money and become a savvy saver and investor; all without cutting out life's little luxuries. "Detox Your Finances" is the perfect companion to cut through the everyday stresses of finances and to increase your confidence with the purse-strings.

Best finance book for women
Extremely helpful tool for not only getting out of debt, but also for building up savings and getting involved in the world of serious investing. In frank, easy to understand language, the author explains the psychology behind our relationship with money and why women need to take the own financial well-being more seriously. Gone are the days of being a kept woman - statistically we now live longer than men and are more likely to be the ones caring for our children or even our own parents, if our partner is no longer on the scene. The book encourages us to start saving slowly and demystifies the murky world of pensions, funds and investing jargon.I've already made some changes in my own approach to money and I can see small but significant improvements already. I would really encourage you to read this and see what it can do for you.

Do Yourself a Favour & Read This! (even if you are a guy)
The most inspiring, useful and simple book I have read in a long time. Just finished reading it once and am now going to study it. So easy to understand - when Justine relates investing to 'shopping' I cannot help but be interested and for once understand all this financial jargon.I have always felt I was quite good with money but this has helped me to identify my weaknesses and has shown me how I should rectify them. Women need to be savvy and face the facts - we earn less and live longer. We need to make sure we can still go on shopping sprees and travel the world when we are 90!All my good friends are getting a copy for their birthday's this year from me. Men should read this too!

Sexist and very basic
This book is written on the basic premise that women are inferior at understanding financial concepts and managing their financial future than men, which is obviously highly sexist and not true in the majority of cases. This is an insult to most women's intelligence all the more so as the author is a woman. The content is very basic and the steps given can be found in many non-gender specific financial books and articles. Moreover, basic data contained in the book is incorrect such as the average salary in the UK (the author states 30k rather than 22k) which makes we wonder about the accuracy of the overall content. I was very disappointed at this book's promise of being an "ultimate guide".

the ultimate!
i've always avoided books to do with finance and money because i'm naturally a bit of a nightmare... but new year, new resolution, i decided it was time to tackle to demon!justine's book made what was a frightening foray into the unknown accessible and interesting. she writes like a knowledgable friend sharing information with you: informative, yet non-judgmental. hell, she even got me thinking about funds and shares! :)all in all, a book i highly recommend. buy it, you won't regret it.

Detox your Finances
I found this book an interesting and easy read, especially as it included some of the psychology behind why we might have a particular view of money, and why we might have developed certain habits. The writing style made it very accessible, for what can be an intimidating topic for some of us. Practical advice with an optimistic view that it's never too late to start building your financial security.

A light read
I fail to see how such a weak and basic book can be advertised as an "ultimate guide" on financial matters. It's a "Dummies Guide" at most. As an alternative, I would recommend "Love is Not Enough: A Smart Woman's Guide to Money" by Merryn Somerset Webb, who provides thoughtful, well-researched advice and has a reputed professional background in finance.
