Live New York 1972

Great set from one of the great rock bands, but the sound quality here is HORRIBLE! Don't waste your money on this. It is very painful to listen to. Stick to the Capitol live releases, which are a compliment and more accurate testament to this band's shining talent as a live act. My favorite example is "Caught In The Act."

This is a Euro import of the audio from Grand Funks Railroad's live in concert in 1972. Its good sound but its the TV show so it has the Phoenix house interview in the middle of I'm Your Captain, It also has cut versions of songs like Hooked on Love, and It has the two Freddie King Songs as well. Still it is worth having for any GFR fan. 4 stars because I was hoping they would release the whole set complete witch would be GREAT!!!

I Love Grand Funk my all timr favorite band . BUT this cd is not worth the money , the sound is terrible this is not remastered like it said, ur better to buy caught in the act or bosnia both sound great this cd does no justice for GFR.....

Probably my favorite hard rock live LP ever, other than "Made in Japan", from Deep Purple, or "Strangers in the Night", from UFO. Grand Funk, at there very best, before they went commercial a few years later!

Song list is very good but quality is not as many of these recordings suddenly found and released, have others similar and quality varies. Substandard sound quality after listening to this CD further, not an intended release so quality was not so important. Second delivery was fine. Took the music and edited it to try to clean it up from the poor quality sound. May have improved it slightly.

Another radio recording so the sound quality isn't the best. Have to listen to (or skip) two Freddie King songs and an interview (that ones half way through 'I'm You Captain')

Tell everybody you know, they were the rock and roll band of that era and I really enjoyed their hard hitting songs that never a dull moment to listen to all their albums over and over again ✌️

Grand Funk et Black Sabbath étaient les bêtes noires des journalistes de l'époque ( des bûcherons pour Grand Funk, des kids faisant une musique basique pour attardés mental pour les autres) ; entendez la préhistoire du Hard Rock ! Bref, la légende veut que les premiers rangs avaient le sentiment que les ampli "Marshal" faisaient office de ventilateur (!) , tellement le volume était fort.....!!! Cet enregistrement FM est revigorant, entre le Live 71 et " Caught in the Act" mais avant le passage soul, reniement qui lui coutera sa crédibilité . Là ici, çà commence par l'instrumental " Flight off the Phoenix" titre de leur album studio avant la bombe l'année suivante de "We're an American Band". On retrouve leurs titres fétiches " Footstompin' Music " I'm your captain" et l'inoxidable "Inside Looking Out" d'un certain Eric Burdon, mentor des Animals, traité imanquablement de mains de maître par Mark Farner et sa bande. Deux reprises avec l'apport exceptionnel de Freddie King "Ain't no sunshine when you're gone" et "Going Down" raviront les fans de blues et donne à ce live un supplèment d'âme non négligeable . Welcome to the Seventies et comme le disait ( avant son virage neo-con) ce vieux Ted Nugent " Si vous trouvez çà trop fort, c'est que vous êtes trop vieux" !

Prodotto pessimo per nulla rimasterizzato come dichiarato. Si tratta di un audio di un precedente dvd. Purtroppo ancora non capisco come mai non pubblicano il famoso concerto dello Shea Stadium di cui si conoscono solo spezzoni ma con un buon audio.

Als Fan dieser Band habe ich mich auf diese "überarbeitete" CD gefreut. Heute am Montag (obwohl DEPOST schon am Freitag angeblich zugestellt hatte ???) kam die Lieferung an. Naja, immerhin angekommen. CD rein und zugehört... Der Sound genügt allenfalls einer Bootlegqualität und dabei sind Songs teilweise spät ein- oder früh ausgeblendet, ...vermutlich weil es die Qualität nicht hergab. Das "Remastering" ergibt eine recht schrille Wiedergabe. Anscheinend hat man sich hier des im Internet anschaubaren Videomitschnittes bedient... Was interessiert mich das Gequatsche des Songs 10, der einen Song trennt und daraus Song 9 = Part 1 und Song 11 = Part 2 macht ??? Song 4 wird mittendrin eingeblendet..., Song 3 hat Lautstärkeschwankungen, ...in Song 2 ist das leiernde Band zu hören... Au weia! Dass es sich, wie auf der Rückseite des Jewelcases beschrieben, um ein "Legendary Live Recordings" handelt, ist unumstritten, denn nach diesem Auftritt wurde der Band das Equipment aufgrund eines Rechtsstreites mit ihrem Ex-Manager gepfändet. Wer Grand Funk rau und heftig erleben will, sollte auf das schwarze Live-Album von 1970 zurückgreifen. Ich finde den Sound (gerade bei angehobenerLautstärke) autentisch und man hört ein Trio, welches einem live wohl tatsächlich Angst machen konnte. Irgendwo hatte ich gelesen, dass sich die Bassdrum in den Magen rammte, der Bass ganze Stuhlreihen verschoben habe und die Gitarre ohrenbetäubend gewesen sein soll. Ob es so war, kann ich natürlich nicht sagen, aber beim Sound des 1970'er Live-Albums könnte ich mir das (zumindest) vorstellen.

Billige Kopie von einem Video-Portal, in ein schönes Gewand gesteckt, fertig. Von digitaler Bearbeitung kann keine Rede sein. Ich weiß nicht, warum man für unterdurchschnittliche Bewertungen einen Stern vergeben muss.
