Sony Cybershot DSC-H10 8.1MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot

I have owned 3 Sony digital cameras, and have LOVED them all! So when I decided to upgrade, I went straight to the latest Sony digitals to see if I could strike gold yet again with a Sony digital camera. And guess what??!!!I DID!!!I'm a stay-at-home Mother of five and I take LOTS of pictures. This H10 is perfect for all of the shots I take with my kids and various other things. The pictures are of high quality. I'll never buy a camera without the 10x optical zoom because Sony has spoiled me with that incredible zoom! The 8.1 megapixels produce quality pictures beyond my wildest imagination, which can be blown up to any reasonable size you would need them to be! The programs are so easy to use, that I didn't even have to read the manual to figure them out!!! One of my FAVORITE things about this camera is that when I actually push down the button, it captures the EXACT PICTURE I WAS TRYING TO GET without "missing the moment"!!!! I can't say that about all of the Sony's I've owned in the past. Anyway...this is THE camera to own and is at a FANTASTIC price on Amazon.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All it took to ruin my 4 year old former pocket digital camera was one careless drop from the breakfast table--the fragile case dented and the lens became jammed; this experience convinced me that rugged reliability trumps both "cute", & pocket-sized convenience. Several reviews describing the DSC-H10 design intrigued me, as well as my wife's satisfaction with her Sony SLR; the DSC-H10 is only slightly larger than "pocket digitals" and I find it much more convenient than the much larger SLR. I take pictures of construction, special projects, bids and family occasions, so my needs are not a shirt-pocket size form factor. One of the great designs of this camera is the body (naturally cradles in your right hand.) I will probably never use the 10 minute sight/sound/motion video function, but the wide viewing screen, crystal sharp focus, and picture modes are remarkable. Plan to order the Sony custom case as well--and don't plan to keep this camera in your shirt pocket--just expect it to work when you need it.

And so my father bought one too. Perfect little pocket camera with a nice zoom. I personally go with a bigger prosumer model (Lumix GF-1), but alternatively this would make a good complement to a DSLR.Battery is on the small side, so if you are going on safari without power for a few days, either buy an extra battery or get a small car charger (Duracell makes a good one in the 100w range for $70) and bring your charger with. Another downside is that it uses Sony 'Memory Stick Duo' media, not SD card, so not compatible with my other cameras/GPS/laptop/UPS adapters. Wife has another Sony, so fine for her I guess.

I bought this camera for our office of about 35 transportation engineers. We have a small army of cameras that we take out for Field Work in the rain, sleet, and snow, and all of them must be durable and able to take detailed shots quickly in both good and bad lighting. This little guy has become a fast favorite of all the cameras, as it's easy to hold in your hand, takes steady shots in even the darkest of areas (it's all about the settings) and seems to be able to take a beating. The features are easy enough for even a novice to use, and everyone is able to upload the pictures onto their computers without any problems. A GREAT BUY!!

The camera malfunctions now by imparting a purple haze to each shot...disappointing...It didn't do it immediately and I'm pretty careful with camera equipment...unfortunate

The camera is great...I can't express enough how disappointed I am with this purchase. The camera is spectacular and works awesomely.The box it came in, (original box) was not in the best shape, it was "opened" and missing parts. I am thinking of either returning it and asking the seller to send a new one or send me the cords which were suppose to have come with it.

I am a Ludite when it comes to these new digital cameras. I really miss photographic paper and the chemicals, but you can't work with this stuff and kids so, I got this camera thing and it has O.K. images but not photographs. Never confuse digital imagery with photography, it really is a different thing. This one has a rechargeable battery and, if you get one of these cameras get a second battery. It has a really nice image screen and the buttons are fairly user friendly. It is O.K., but it ain't photography.

Tired of carrying around a much larger SLR camera with interchangeable lenses and small view screen I found the H10 a very nice replacement. The 10X zoom is more then enough for my travel picture needs. In Alaska I zoomed in on a bald eagle resting on a distant electrical tower. The large 3" viewing screen allows me to compose my picture without wearing any glasses. Mode selector knob easily allows me to find the right picture taking mode. Virtually no shot delay and multiple shooting mode works machine gun fast. Steady shot is always on, removing any moves I may make and later blaming on the camera. Taking pictures at twilight and night resulted in very high quality pictures. Issues? With a 4gb memory chip I tend to overshoot, bringing my battery to exhaustion. No problem, added an extra battery and off I go. Yes you can read where other reviewers will complain about what the H10 will not do. Then again, if you take the time to fully read the manual several times, practice with the camera and learn from your mistakes, you will find the camera is fine. It's the operator making the mistakes. Nice job Sony!
