Decent rod for the price
I'm sure results may vary but I pulled in a 41" northern Pike with this rod with 10lb spiderwire braided line. Also caught a bunch of 30" pikes too. For the price it's a decent rod that fits in a small storage space

Backpack Powerhouse
I was looking for a practical camping/packing fishing rod and had tried the pocket fisherman (a decent little product that would get you by in a pinch) but wanted something that allowed me to actually fish. I took it to a nearby pond and strung it with some 6# line and put a 1/16th crappie jig on it and worked the brush piles along the shore. Caught 3 decent little crappie and a handful of bluegills. The light pole did really well with fish around 12-16oz and the reel handled pulling them in with ease. Excellent for the little stuff! I switched over to a 1/4oz Mepp's Black Fury spinner bait and had no issues casting 30-40yds off bank and the retrieve was nice and smooth while the rod was sensitive enough to transmit bites to my hands. In 30 minutes I had landed 4 large mouths between 3/4# to 1 1/2# with a bit of work, but the rod and reel held up with no issues. I switched to a 1/4oz popper and started working the moss beds.... this is where I got the workout at. Even with the forgiving rod and a wicked blood knot strong enough to hold under the toughest conditions, I fought a bass in the 4-5# range for a solid 2 minutes before he took my bait (the only one I had with me). I haven't tried any of the hybrid lines on this yet, but have a feeling that if employed it would yield better results than monos did and most likely would have landed the lil lunker.Pros: Compact, very light weight with plenty of power to bring in small to medium fish. The ease of casting is very good to excellent. The rod's sensitivity is very good to excellent. The retrieve is very good.Cons: Small spool equals short heavy line or long light line. I may try some 8# next time and see if it yields better results on the larger fish (provided I can keep them from running too far)Overall: Outstanding combo that breaks down into a case the size of a backgammon board and easily stows in a framed backpack with all the power you would need to land fish 3#'s and smaller all day. Very highly recommend this to anyone looking for a rugged fishing rig that you can count on in the woods for extended periods of time (we usually do 10 day hikes covering 90-120 miles)

Light rod but maybe only for light grade fish.
I wanted to like it, but in short the 3rd segment of the 5 piece pole broke after one use at a lake when retrieving my second cast to just check if my bait was still on the hook. No fish, just the resistance from a 1/2oz egg weight being pulled thru some light weeds (not snagged mind you), was enough to break one of the segments. There is no way the pole could have managed to pull in a trout over 1lb (maybe even 1/2lb fish may have snapped it). The break was in the middle of the rod segment and not at the at one of the joining points.I know and love Okuma rods so I have to assume my pole was defective, unfortunately I was not able to use it until a few days past the standard 30day Amazon return policy. If anyone from Okuma is out there I would love a replacement and am willing to review the pole again if someone can replace my defective pole.As for the reel and carrying case. The case is a nice foam padded carrying case. It has extra space for some small tackle. Overall a good if you want to keep the pole in your trunk yet have it protected from random junk people toss in their trunk. I would have appreciated a cloth sleeve to hold the 5 piece pole and reel so it can be more compact to tuck away in a corner of the trunk. The reel was very smooth and seemed like durability would not be an issue. My experience was nowhere close to what other reviewers posted so hopefully I can give everyone a updated review if my rod is replaced.**** Update 8/29/22Since the default Amazon return options had expired I had to google a live support number for Amazon. I got thru and they were really helpful to process a return for me 2 weeks past the return date. Gotta love Amazon.I am updating my review from 1star to 4stars since Amazon and Okuma took care of the problem for me.Since I still believe in the Okuma name I think the rod is still worth buying, but I would advise for any buyers to test the product within 30days of buying it. And since it is a light travel rod, be cautious on how hard you real or allow the rod to bend if you hook a lunker. - Tight Lines
