DIY Skoolie Guide: A Step-By-Step Bus Conversion Textbook (DIY Skoolie Guides)

Given the price of this book, and having checked out the author's website where they seem to offer quite a few helpful tips and publications, _for a price_. That certainly doesn't sound like the mantra of the skoolie nation. Most of the skoolie owners I've talked to are out to help folks out of generosity, not to make a profit.I was skeptical of the value I'd get out of the DIY Skoolie Guide and even going in with those low expectations, I was still disappointed. This book is certainly a how-to, it's almost a set of step-by-step assembly instructions with more focus on the "do this to that piece" than the _why_ I would do "this to that piece" and what I might do instead.Worse yet, the book assumes you bought the exact same bus as the author. If you have a different bus, then this book is a lot less useful. I purchased a used shuttle based on a Ford e450 engine. It's got a fiberglass body and solid wood floor. In the end, that made the vast majority of this book not-applicable to even my high-level needs.Most critically of all - This book has *no pictures*. I don't think I've ever seen a DIY book of any sort with zero pictures/diagrams/graphics. The cynic in me says this was a money grab, pictures drive up printing costs.I really didn't find this book to be worth the 2-3x price of the other skoolie books out there - were it comparably priced, I'd be far more forgiving in my criticisms.

I was skeptical before buying and should have listened to my gut feelings. The book is about as basic as you can get with basic overviews of the subject matter. No pictures and only a rudimentary diagram for plumbing that explains next to nothing. For $80 this should have been a hard bound comprehensive construction manual with detailed specifics on wiring and such. Save your money, you’ll learn 1000x more on YouTube and FB groups than you will from this book. It is being returned 5 min after I’ve opened it. The people who are selling this book should be absolutely ashamed of taking advantage of the Skoolie community in such a way. The “Step by Step” is false advertising at its finest.

No pictures or diagrams, and the description is very narrow. Only useful if your build is exactly the same as theirs.

The book itself is fine. However there is mention to access the QR codes through out the book for additional information. I have tried to access these codes this with my iPhone and my wife's iPhone. I get this messageComing SoonGet ready for our biggest marketing launch of the year....This same message appears on multiple QR codes. I have emailed Jeff and Missy more than once to inquire if I am missing something on this QR access. I have not received any feed back.

The book is wonderful. I have been a Missy and Jeff fan since 2009. Missy is straight forward on this book. If your serious about the Skoolie life this has to be in your library. They start off helping you answer if this is a really realistic life style. Then they both move on to asking the question should this be a project one would DIY. They move on to options other than DIY. Then the actual build step by step. This book is thorough!! They brought up subjects I had not even thought of and I have been contemplating this for 10 years. Missy and her husband Jeff are one of a few in the forefront of the Skoolie community. Their Facebook and Instagram sites are wonderful but the book condenses all the ups and downs of Skoolie build and life- unvarnished. The Book will save you thousands of dollars in mistakes.

I’m giving 5 stars to my Skoolie sister who took the time to write a comprehensive how-to book for someone who is lost on what to do to accomplish their dream of owning a Skoolie. This book is perfect for the person without any experience in remodeling or conversion of any type. It’ll hold your hand through many steps. That said- it wasn’t a help to my husband and I. I was expecting tips and tricks and photos- much like a “For Dummies” book. He was expecting more technical help, more intricacies of bus specifics and issues such a thermal bridging, insulation and condensation. We still have many issues unresolved. With that, the author has graciously offered ways to contact them for Q&A. THAT advice in itself could be worth the steep price I paid for the book. All in all, if you are looking for a quick synopsis of what you’ll have to do while building your Skoolie, in order, and with just enough detail so that you understand the basic premise, this is the book for you.And to the authors, Jeff & Missy Miller- I hope we get to meet out in the Skoolie world! You guys seem like such great peeps!

Found some useful info in the book. Decided to sign up for the on-line Master Class. Unfortunately, I did not find it as helpful as desired. Lots of attempts to sell more stuff to me. Cancelled the subscription fairly quickly but only to be told I would still be charged the remainder of the subscription regardless of whether we used it or not. Subscription is not cheap. Very, very disappointed. Will not be supporting this business in any positive shapes or forms going forward.

We bought this book 2 months into our skoolie conversion process, and we wish we would have bought it so much sooner!! This couple has poured their hearts and soul into this book and provide you with everything you need to know to do this project! My fiancé and I are building a skoolie for our future home, and we have never done anything like this before, but this book doesn’t make us doubt or feel flustered in any way. Any question you could think in regards to this process, you can bet it’s in their!!! They cover so much from the purchasing the right bus, to electrical and plumbing, and even some layout options, and so much more!! If you’re building a skoolie, or even thinking about it you should get this book!

This is the best guide actually to help us to transform a bus in Skoolie, I bought it last month and bought my bus last week and I always use it to find solutions. Very easy to read and very well explained. I recommend it to you.
