UniFlameF-1128, 5 Pc. Black Heavy Weight Rustic Fireset

Did some shopping around at the local big box home stores and several specialty fireplace stores and was fairly unimpressed with the offerings. The big boxes had very limited offerings of quite flimsy and cheap looking sets. And while the fireplace stores had great offerings, the starting prices were in the high $200s. So I was left looking for something in the middle - not cheap, but not breaking the bank as well. I also wanted something with some heft like the toolsets I remember my family having (whatever happened to those I wonder).Anyway, the Uniflame set offered a good compromise - it was a good price, solid construction, and a classic look. I might have wanted it be a little heavier, but it was close to what I was looking for in a toolset. It's made in China and I would have preferred made in the US.All in all, a set that offers a good pricepoint and good quality.

Love the durable heavy set. Works well for keeping our fireplace going. Great design too.

Once the stand was assembled it was wobbly.

This is an excellent set of fireplace tools, we love everything about it. It arrived practically overnight. It was packaged very well, inside a heavy cardboard box, that slid tightly into a second heavy box, with very little chance of damage during shipment. The stand has four identical pieces, that you bolt to a couple of spacers. The set comes with a little wrench that fits the bolts. My 3 year old son helped me put it together, it was very easy. If you insert all the bolts to finger tightness, then stand the thing up on a smooth, flat surface, and then tighten the bolts with the wrench, the pieces will go together so all four feet sit flat on the ground, with no wobbling whatsoever.Some other reviewers complained about the broom. There are no visible fasteners where the ferrule attaches to the shaft, so if that part did come loose, you'd have to use some JB Weld or other heavy-duty epoxy to repair it. Our broom seems fine, we've used it a lot and no sign of the ferrule coming loose. Poker has a good shape to the prongs, the shovel pan is attached firmly to its shaft. The log-lifter is really nice, with 2 prongs on one side and 1 on the other, so it works very well, and grabs hot logs firmly. All the tools are nice and heavy and feel like they will last forever, although I imagine after many, many years the bristles on the broom will wear down, but that would happen to any broom.This isn't a miniature set for a tiny wood stove. The tools are nice and long, which makes it easy to tend even a large fire, and it's much easier to sweep out and remove the ashes than with our motley set of old, short tools, because you can reach right under the fire grate, all the way to the back of the fireplace, without having to remove the grate. The styling is simple and elegant, feels hand wrought. For the price, I don't think you could beat this set. It's a very good balance of a high quality set of tools, with nice design and construction, but without costing too much.

Buy cheap get cheap. These feel like an alloy and not a solid piece of metal. The description claims "heavy weight", that's got to be a joke right? They're not heavy, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to lift the box the set came in by myself.

These tools are more cosmetic than functional. The broom broke after 3 uses. And the other tools are mediocre. However, they do look nice by the fireplace.

Not as heavy duty as set I got 20 years ago, but for most people and normal fireplace use, the set was a very good price and seemed sturdy enough to actually handle logs in a fireplace. Most of what you see in stores is more for decoration and would not hold up over long use.

Very sturdy build quality and attractive styling. The only drawback if you can pinpoint one is that the broom will fall apart with use and any replacement purchased will not match the set.
