I'm disappointed with the original Insinkerator but really happy with the ease of replacement.
My Insinkerator Badger Model 100-1 only lasted about 6 years before it started leaking from the bottom and I was disappointed that it didn't last longer. I live alone so it really isn't used that much. Top leaks, side leaks apparently are fixable. Bottom leaks not so much. And mine leaked from the bottom. Walking through the kitchen at night and stepping into a puddle of water is surprising. Looked around for a replacement that would be easily installed. Looked at some videos. Decided that my best bet would be to install what had been installed before. Ordered it from Amazon. Had it in less than a week. Watched the Insinkerator replacement installation video again. I was a bit concerned about the condition of the packaging when it arrived. The box was extremely dusty and looked like it had been rolled around in a cement mixer for a few hours. The foam packing was just about pulverized. Unpacked it and it looked fine. Plugged it in for a quick check and it worked. Checked the serial number which also gives the date of mfg. 2020 and in August. Fresh from the factory. Re,moved the old disposal. Very easy. First unplug it. The directions say to pull the circuit breaker but I just unplugged it. Disconnected the plastic pipes and then I used the original and replacement keys to unlock the retainer ring at the top. Very simple, but remember that the disposer weighs in at about 13 lbs. And when the ring is loose the disposer just drops free. Make certain that you have it supported. Old one came loose easily. Took it out. Lined up the new one for replacing the pipes and turned the lock ring to hold it all together and then plugged it in. i suggest that you go with the one with the power cord already installed as that makes the replacement that much easier. Made certain that all fittings were secure and the lock ring tight. Turned it on and ran water. No leaks and works fine. Has now for about a week Disappointed that the old one didn't last longer but happy with the new one and how easy it was to install.

Single woman, easy installation
As a single woman on a budget, I decided to replace my dead garbage disposal that was leaking from the bottom. I had already reset it and used the key for weeks and finally had to break down and buy a new one. I was a bit intimidated as I’ve never done this before but after watching a few DIY YouTube videos I decided to tackle it on my own. I bought the same model I was replacing. Not super quiet (it sounds like a normal garbage disposal), but that doesn’t really bother me (it’s not like I have to keep it on longer than needed to grind up food). I did remember to pop out the dishwasher connection tube plug (Easily done w/a screwdriver and a hammer). I disconnected some pipes to make the install less awkward & didn’t need to replace the mount already attached to the cabinet/sink. Fun fact: the key was a huge help detaching the old unit, it fits perfectly into the slot to help it turn.Once installed, I checked for leaks and it’s been working great since! Total install from prep to finish took about 45 min & that included clearing out the cabinet. I got the one w/the plug attached because I don’t mess with electricity.

Easy Install and Working Well
I'm very happy with this purchase, was apprehensive about installing on my own but ended up being easy to swap out from the old unit by following the included instructions. I appreciate that this one had power cord already installed so did not have mess with any electrical wiring.

Perfect replacement
No cutting no stress no mess! And actually works better than I thought. My old badger rusted through became loud and didn’t grind well then fused in place. So I bought this new one. I sold plumbing before and told everyone how loud the badger is and it couldn’t grind up water!Turns out not that loud and I tested it with banana peels, apple cores and orange peels chewed right through them in seconds. I stand corrected not too bad. New construction yes buy the evolution excel but for a rental or replacement of the same thing buy this.Comes with the cord attached so that saves tons of time. Watch a YouTube video on how to replace this. I skipped a critical step and almost crushed my toes. When you unscrew the old one you have to hold the bottom lol. Or it drops down fast! Easy to install.
