Bought for my partner's Christmas. She enjoys jigsaws and loves music boxes so this seemed a perfect fit.ProsThe many individual pieces are clearly identified and push cleanly out of the plywood sheets.Spare pieces are provided for some of the tinier pieces which might break on removal.Plays an accurate version of the carousel waltz. (A poor approximation would have been a show-stopper for my very musical partner)The finished music box rotates and there is a realistic mechanism providing simultaneous up and down movement of the horsesThe finished item makes an attractive ornamentConsRequires time and patience to assembleA fair amount of sanding is involved - sometimes of very tiny piecesThe little crown topper is made of cardboard which might degrade over time and need replacing. This is a tiny niggle but it would have been nice to have a more permanent solution.Overall, this is a lovely item which makes a great project for someone patient and systematic. The cons would only be cons for some. My partner loved this present and still regularly sets it going after a number of months.

A well produced accurate kit that works as expected on completion. Assembly can be intricate in places but is well explained with the instructions and available video's (if required). Spares of some of the more fragile parts are provided so there are pieces left over, a thoughtful addition. Best assembled in several sessions rather than one go. All parts are either push fir or held with pegs. A nice change from the plastic kits we are all familiar with.

Turned into a great project, but I found the wood was very brittle and had to glue a couple of bits!

I bought one for myself & loved so bought another for a friends birthday and she loved it as well. Excellent product and well made, instructions are perfect.

The instructions were great. Some of the pop-out pieces are very delicate, so a craft knife can help with getting them out.When assembling sometimes it seemed to help to sand down the tabs a tiny bit and rub them with candle wax to get them to fit in the slots better. Even so, some hand strength required in places to push items together, and some bits were very fiddly.Very enjoyable to put together though, and the finished item is very pretty and works well.

Great kit, parts clearly labelled, but, the cog system to enable it to work is very tricky, and stiff. Unfortunately, this one won't go round but looks great. I've done many of these kits and they are all great quality. Just a shame this particular one doesn't work (for me)
