The Manhattan Tutors Guide to the Primary 4 ISEE: Mathematics

I purchased this book and the Upper Level ISEE book for my sons. As far as I can tell, this is the only guide to the Primary 4 ISEE available on Amazon; luckily, it's a good one. Based on what I've seen so far, both books are well-designed and should be very helpful in our preparation. The sections on test-specific question types, in particular, are thoughtfully prepared and seem very closely correlated with the questions that I've seen on the practice tests released by the ERB. There are two Mathematics tests included in this book, and they mimic the ERB practice test very closely.The math fundamentals content is the standard material you'd find in pretty much every test prep book. While there are a few minor errors here and there, I found that to be the case in the Princeton Review and Kaplan books that my older son used for the SAT - I think there will always be a few. It doesn't detract from the overall quality of the content.

I've been tutoring the ISEE for over 10 years, and this year I wanted to try out a few of the newer guides on Amazon. This book is excellent, as are the other ISEE guides by the same company. There are not a lot of official ISEE materials released by the ERB, so a lot of test-prep companies create questions based on their best guess of what will appear on the test. As far as I know, this is the only released guide for the Primary 4 ISEE Mathematics section. The questions are very similar to those on the ERB's website, and the explanations are clear and easy to understand for 3rd graders. At this age, students will need the assistance of their parents or of a tutor to help them prepare, but this guide goes a long way toward making that process as straightforward as possible.

This book was perfect for studying for the Primary ISEE 4. I used every question for tons of practice tests. This book was throughly used front to back. Highly recommend!!
