I bought this in mid September. All I have to say is that the glue that is used to hold the hair into the tip was poorly done. The bristles are now loose and come out of the holder. I still use it but I am careful with it so the whole thing doesn't come undone. Maybe I got a dud. I don't know. But other than that, it works fine.

Looks great. But the glue failed within 3 weeks and the knot fell out. And no, I do not use hot water to soak it. Warm only per YouTube.

Overall a very good, low priced, well constructed, badger brush.So a couple of things:1) I verified it was animal hair by doing a burn test. Definitely real animal hair.2) The knot is huge and dense! This thing is a water/soap hog. But it does a great job of making a massive amount of lather as a result.3) Knot has shed very little since I got it, and I've been lathering with it a ton since I've purchased it. Appears to be constructed rather well.4) Very soft bristles with a good amount of spine. My knot did not have any trimmed bristles, so I believe that this is a two band silvertip and not just dyed.There's only one thing holding me back from a perfect 5 star rating on this brush: the smell. Oh boy did this thing smell like a wet badger when I first soaked it. Now, I know this is normal to some extent, I've had plenty brushes that smelled like wet badger when I got them; this particular one, I had a tough time getting the badger smell out. I did finally manage to get the smell out of it after a few days and 30+ shampooings/lathers + vinegar soaks. It really impressed me how little it shed with all the lathering/tugging/wringing out that I've done of the past few days.Now that the smell is out and the brush is broken in, I've added it to my regular rotation. I really like how it performs with my tougher-to-lather soaps. I'd take this thing over a TAoS brush any day.Note: I did receive a discount at the time of purchase of this brush in exchange for an honest review after using it. As you can see, I have used this brush, I have experience with wetshaving, and I was honest with all the goods and bads of this brush. Even after all that, I recommend this brush at it's full price because I really do like it.

(I am not "floridatamar," but I am the person using the product.)The brush arrived in an elegant yet simple black box which of course will not add to the performance of the brush but should be taken into consideration if you're planning on purchasing this item as a gift.The handle is heavy and feels well made. The fit and finish leave little, if anything, to be desired. On first examination the brush felt incredibly soft and had very little odor. I quickly got rid of the slight odor that it had by using the trick of lathering the brush, then leaving it overnight, standing upright with the lather still in it. The next morning I just rinsed it out. I only had to do this once on this brush. (With brushes that have more of an odor, sometimes it is necessary to do this for several nights.) Upon first use I was thoroughly impressed by how easily it built a leather with less soap than my boar or pure badger. The knot is quite full, and even though it is common for a new brush to shed a bit, this brush has shed very little - less than either of my other brushes. I am including two pics so you can see how full it is.As for the feel on the skin, this will be completely subjective, but if what you're looking for is a luxurious pampered feel then that's exactly what you'll get with this brush. I, myself, have coarse hair and actually kind of prefer the rugged feel of boar bristles on my skin; and am currently using my boar brush as a facial scrubber to remove impurities as I prep for my shave. However, the other aspects of this brush are what would push me over the edge. I am now using this as my daily shaving brush, and so far I'm very happy with it. I would recommend it.*I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review, however, even at full price I believe the brush to be a good value. Many silvertip badger brushes are much more expensive.

Love this brush. The look of the brush is absolutely beautiful and it came in a very elegant box in case you were purchasing for a gift.The fact that it is real animal hair instead of the cheap knockoffs they try to pass off to you is a huge bonus for this price. This brush is very well made, solid feel and weighty. I have just recently switched back over to using a safety razor and Justice Shaving Company has made the transition smooth by having quality products at a non pocket breaking price.I have found all of their products well made for me so far but will keep you updated as I go on my new shaving journey. I did not have the odor problem that I see a few reviewers have on this product and started right of using the brush on my first shave. The brush was stiff enough to whip up a nice lather but very soft and smooth on my face when applying. The brush holds plenty of water the get the soap from hard to lather pretty quick making for easy work to get to shaving much faster. I did purchase the Justice Shaving Companys shaving bowl which I found being a larger bowl to be just the right size for this brush to work up a good bit of lather. From some shaving videos I found on you tube you need to shave twice in different directions to get the smoothest shave so you will need at least double the normal amount of lather. I was able to purchase this brush at a reduced cost for my fair and honest opinion and have not been disappointed.Pros: Looks gorgeous Heavy/solid handle Full head of soft bristles Holds water well for making premium lather Flat head for sitting on counter No shedding so farI have not found any cons so far and am enjoying this product along with another brush from this company.
