Great little compact light duty portable tire inflator
This review is for the Portable Tire Inflator, GRANDTAU Mini 150 PSI 12V DC Car Electric Auto Air Compressor Pump for Vehicles, Trucks, Bicycles, Basketballs and Inflatable Objects. This item ships in a retail package with instructions and a ball needle. The cord is just over 8 feet long and the hose is just over 18” long. The cord had an automotive lighter plug ending. The base is 6-1/8” x 2” x 4-3/4” and this includes storage for the cord, the hose, and the ball needle. It's very compact and should fit in just about any glove box or spare tire well. The internal gauge is accurate but only has a resolution of 5 psi per hash mark. It's ….20, 25, 30, 35,... and so on, so if you want to make your tires exactly 32 psi you'll need an external gauge with a finer resolution. Also, while it's spec'd at up to 150 psi the gauge has a “redline” at 115 psi.The hose end is threaded metal, which is nice given it takes several minutes to inflate a tire, I don't need to hold it the whole time it's inflating. The instructions are in poorly translated English but are readable enough and have some important information included such as don't run the unit for over 15 minutes to prevent overheating. And now for your amusement a couple actual quotes from the instructions “...make sure the coupler cools down, pay attention to scald....” and “all connections no leaking while inflating....”.Now the big question, does it work?My tires are fairly small @ 205/45R16. I let the air down to 5 psi in two tires then refilled them with this unit. I did this to try an simulate filling a large truck tire. It took about 4 minutes per tire to reach 36 psi. The unit seemed to be working noticeably harder when it got above 30psi but had no trouble getting up to 36psi. When I was done with both tires the unit was hot, but not untouchable. For reference it was 94F out when I was testing. The noise is exactly what you would expect from a unit like this, loud but not deafening.Next I hooked the unit onto an air tank for a pressure test. It filled the tank without issue. But at about 10 minutes and 50 psi it became uncomfortably hot and started to emit a slight hot plastic an brush odor so I discontinued the fill. Why four stars? This item is simply of questionable build quality. It strains and runs hot at less then half it's rated psi and can only be run for 15 minutes at a time. It's spec'd at 150 psi but has a redline at 115 psi. And the manual could be much better.ConclusionIt's a nice little light duty unit in a small size. It'll work fine for the occasional tire fill but is not workhorse you are going to use everyday. I'm happy with it given I paid $18 for it and plan to put it in my wife's trunk for emergency use.If you are looking for a medium or heavy duty unit this is not the one for you. Spend a little more and check out something like the Viair 00088 88P Portable Air Compressor ASIN B005ASY23I.

Avoid this weak and ineffective pump
This inflator was difficult to thread on to the valve stem of an automobile tire. Once screwed on, it made little headway in boosting the tire pressure of my minivan by even one PSI over the course of a few minutes. It does not have a lighted dial, which makes it difficult to use in low light situations. The cord was just barely long enough to reach from the cigarette lighter to the rear van tires. I think if you had a pickup or larger vehicle it wouldn't reach, but that doesn't even matter because this tiny, feeble little pump could not even budge the tire pressure of an automobile tire. It might be suitable for a bicycle tire, but who has a cigarette lighter on their bicycle?I also own the Slime 40022 tire inflator, which is far superior. It has a lighted digital display, and the other end of the pump is actually a flashlight. In my experience, the Slime 40022 has no trouble inflating my automobile tires.I came back to Amazon today to return the GRANDTAU Mini, but it sat on my dresser for too long before I needed it, and the return window has closed. Take my advice and spend $12 more for the Slime 40022.

gift this
Pumped 4 bicycle tires up from flat, one after the other, with no degradation in performance and no overheating symptoms -- a problem with other similar products. I love how fast it is, the accurate gauge, the nooks for the power wire and for the pump hose, and how the quickly the air fitting screws on and off with minimal air loss.

Excellent Air Compressor
This is a great air compressor. It fills up the tire quickly. It's a little loud, but that's to be expected for an air compressor pump. It's sturdy and doesn't rattle. The built-in gauge is accurate as I compared it with a standard tire gauge. You have to run your car engine in order for this to operate, but it's not necessarily a waste of fuel if you're using it to pump your tires which will help maintain good fuel economy after the tires are inflated to the suggested tire pressure in your door sill. I like it's compact size since it's about the size of a small book. Very little air is lost when connecting/disconnecting the air hose from the tire. I highly recommend this product.

the only one I could find with a screw fitting
Exactly what I was looking for. Compact, powerful, and most important a screw-on connector. I have several portable compressors with connectors of the rubber seals and clamp type. I consider these to be almost useless. Once the rubber dries out they become hard to clamp and release. when releasing they let out much of the air you just put in. Also this draws low enough amps not to blow out the fuze on the cig lighter. Minimalist dsign, the power cord and hose fold into the body.

Convenient, but with gauge concerns
Used it once when I got it to inflate car tires from ~25 PSI to 36 PSI. It works and does the trick. Inflated 4 tires in under 10 min which ultimately isn't bad for how small this thing is. The power cord is long enough to reach all four tires and getting the cord back in for storage was messy but possible. It's also surprisingly quiet for a compressor. That's not to say it is silent, but definitely quieter than what you're used to at a gas station compressor. My only concern is with the accuracy of the gauge. I am getting roughly a 3-5 PSI difference between the gauge on the compressor and an old-fashioned pen checker. I measured a third time with my digital checker and its reading was closer to the pen checker than the gauge on this compressor leading me to believe the gauge may be a bit off (or mine was at least). Otherwise, I keep it stored in my glove box and it's very convenient to have around.
