Bigger than Us: The Power of Finding Meaning in a Messy World

A Way to the Bigger Picture
In her fourth book, Fearne Cotton explores that which is bigger than us. From meditation to mediums, there is something for everyone within whether you are a total sceptic, total believer or looking for something more.I have read all of Fearne’s books and I think Bigger Than Us is my favourite. I feel like I will go back to this one when I am looking for something to bring me back to centre. As someone who battles with day to day anxiety, I could really relate to most of the subjects and how they could help people rise above our worries and stress. It is also beautifully written which makes reading this book a pure joy.A criticism? I found myself disengaging within certain sections, but I think this is more to do with my state of mind rather than the book itself. Everyone will relate to each subject in different ways. So, I love Fearne and I can’t wait to continue following her love of life and finding the bigger picture. Also, near the end she mentions listening to the Fleet Foxes album ‘Shore’ which I went onto listen to and loved. If you choose to read Bigger Than Us, please listen to this album while doing so.

You can't help but love the incredible fearne cotton
The book is based around spirituality, but that doesn't take away how incredibly, inspiring fearne cotton really is. I've now read all of her books, I was intrigued when I realised she had another book released so I didn't hesitate to buy it!from page one, fearne has you gripped like a kid being told a bed time story, you hear and feel every word. I love the fact fearne took a completely different route with this book compared to all of her other books, but it's a great dip into the what spirituality actually is and how deep it can be and how it can teach us in how to look at life through a different perspective.i also like the way she scripts what was said in interviews she undertook with people she has crossed paths with and how they have helped fearne herself.fearne is just a lovely, beautiful person inside and out (not having met her..) but seeing her on TV and reading her books, you can tell she loves, cherishes, and cares for her readers, people in her life and for life itself and its such a joy to read from her perspective and how she lives life with the handbrake off! (which we all need to do more often!)

The lighthouse of this genre so far, in my very humble but well-read opinion!
I try ( like most people!) to absorb anything that might speak to my soul - whether it’s a book or a podcast relating to every day mental health or learnings around personal growth . A few years ago, I would have considered any conversation on such topics to be incredibly indulgent and without substance. Now I can’t get enough of it.Anyway, in what is an incredibly saturated area, this book is stand-out different. I read the first half in my first sitting and only put it down because I was reluctant to finish it so quickly.I think it’s easy these days to be “relatable” and reference all of the obvious changes we need to make. It’s in a hundred best sellers already. However, what Fearne does here is take a country mile step back, a massive breath, and look at it all holistically. The summarisation of everything we’ve heard a hundred times, but coupled with expert views and a much deeper - relatable and personal- dive, makes for a book I intend to read again and again. And probably again. And for the first time, a book I will not be lending to anyone! But will most definitely be gifting.

Probably one of the best books I’ve ever read.
I honestly couldn’t get enough of this book, taught my how to connect with life in ways which I’d almost forgot for years. Completely changed my perspective towards myself and the world around me. It’s a lot to take in, because you want to deeply absorb every bit of information and never forget it. You can tell her heart and soul went into this book. Amazing!

Thank you.
Thank you to Fearne for this beautifully written book. I love how she lays out the interpretation of different areas of spirituality, followed by her honest opinion and experience of these areas, and then gets some great people in these areas to answer some honest directed questions. The book leaves you open to make your own decisions about whether you agree or disagree with different spiritual techniques and left me wanting to at least try some options I had not considered before. What stood out for me with all her discussions with the key opinion leaders in their area, is that there a common theme running through - that those who find happiness excel when there is time out/self care. The question is what self care option will work for you? I am sure this book will open other options to you.
