The Story of Civilization - Full 11-Volume Set

* I never wrote review feedback, also don’t like those reminder emails requesting me to do so. However this time I must write one because it’s so so much beyond my expectation!* I love collecting all the classic books which are related to Christian spiritual growth, Children science/art/history etc. The series of story of civilization is worthy to collect!* the books are kept very clean, and I give thanks to my Lord and the former owner for cherishing the great art!* the book printing is extremely satisfied. I had several bad experience that the printed words is unclear. I don’t know how the other customers general feedback about today book printing, the electronic products are upgraded a lot, but the book printing quality today is worse than the old days.

Durant spent 40 years writing the 11-volume story of civilization. This first volume lays out his approach, which the first few chapters can bore the non-historian, but then his engaging historiography grabs you and you feel the presence of the people (as people) rather than boring facts and figures. I’ve read the entire series four times in the past five years.I usually counsel people to start with page 116 on Sumerian, then later visit the first pages.Enjoy.

The shipment is in 3 separate boxes. They are NOT a matching set, and they look like crap on the bookshelf. I am very unhappy. Actually, I am still waiting for the last volume to show up. These were a gift for father's Day, so--altogether disappointing.

Phd in History for the taking right here. Best set of books ever written about our beginnings. Although written 60 plus years ago, the Durants spent a lifetime on this labor of love. It shows in every volume.

These are unusable as they're dry rotted and the pages are disintegrating. They did not come with dust jackets. They look like a set of old encyclopedias.

So happy to receive this set in excellent condition. I want to read these books to learn more about world history and I know these are excellent books. Very happy with the books condition - 11 books in all.
