Wow
Got these for lettuce. Tried them out on watermelon. Went right through the thick rind. No problems. Larger than expected, but sturdy and sharp. Good buy.

Perfect for lettuce!
I have always used a regular metal knife to cut up my lettuce until I found this plastic lettuce knife on Amazon. I have noticed a huge difference in my lettuce after using this knife... no more brown/pink edges!! Using this knife, my new salad spinner, & my new rubber maid produce/salad keeper bowls I noticed my salad is lasting a lot longer! When I used regular bowls, metal knife, ect. my salad would start to go bad fast, it wouldn't even last a week. Now I don't have to pressure myself to eat it before it goes bad, it lasts well over a week. I read in one of the reviews where someone said this knife just shreds the lettuce... I never had any problems, the knife cuts clean edges for me. I press down on the lettuce & saw back & forth with a little pressure. There are sharp points on the knife, but not so sharp it will cut you... it's very safe, even kids could use this. It's very easy to clean. Make sure & store it on a flat surface so it doesn't bend/warp. I'm sure this knife would also be great to cut soft foods like cake, lasagna, ect. I love my new lettuce knife, I just wish I could have found it sooner!Other salad products I recommend...-Salad spinner, great for drying your lettuce, makes it last longer... Prepworks by Progressive Salad Spinner - 4 Quart-Rubbermaid produce/salad keeper bowls. Makes your salad last longer. Has air vents & a tray at the bottom of the bowl so your salad isn't sitting in it's own water... Rubbermaid Produce Saver Food Storage Container, 6-Piece Set

Great for nonstick pans
I bought this knife so as not to scratch my nonstick pans when cutting brownies and other baked goods. It works perfectly for that. Now, it’s our go to knife for any pie or cake, too, whether it’s in a nonstick pan or not because it cuts so well. I do not put mine in the dishwasher - it’s a very easy clean in the sink. I bought one for my dad because he has scratched the living daylights out of his nonstick pans cutting brownies (he’s a brownie making machine), but, in this case, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks and he continues to use his metal knives on his nonstick pans, so I might steal his back so I can have a spare.

Works good when used w/ a veggie storage container but does do some ripping\tearing rather than cutting
I use this to knife to cut romaine lettuce but unless the lettuce is super crisp, it might do more of a pulling\ripping action than cutting, especially at the leafy ends. I've found that the best way to use the knife is to put slight pressure on the knife and let the jagged edges do all the work for you. I can't say for sure that there's any special magic in the way that it cuts but I'll continue to use it anyway to cut my lettuce now that I have it. I find that the combination of using this knife and the Progressive fruit and veggie container makes my lettuce stay greener for a longer period of time, especially w/ organic lettuce. Not sure if it's the combination of the two products or just the storage container that makes the difference.

Great knife!
I have had other "plastic" non metal knives before and this one cut far better than the others! I used it on a head of cabbage! It is far from the precision of a sharp chef knife , but for curing lettuce and cabbage I thought it was the best I'v ever used

Buy one now
I can't believe it took me so long to get one of these. It cuts lettuce with ease.

Doesn't Make Lettuce Brown
Ok! Bought this because I REALLY hate that box-of-chopped-lettuce smell. I mean, really, that is a putrescent smell--and we're supposed to eat the stuff after catching that odor. Much of it goes to the compost.I also hate chopping lettuce for a salad that's supposed to last two days and go get the salad for lunch the second day and the whole thing is brown. I don't want to eat THAT, either. This is an inexpensive, plastic knife and I didn't expect it to perfectly cut my lettuce like my nice chef's knife. It does quite well with the cutting closer to the base of the head of romaine, up toward the leafy tops, getting more tearing action than anything. BUT! I don't care because I often tear my lettuce anyway.Best part? I cut up a head of lettuce, let it drain most of the way, put it in a container and no browning or vegetable-death-smell. The lettuce made it 4 days before consumed.Even if I have to buy one annually, it will save money. And my nostrils.

Meh.
Tip bent on about the second use. Odd that it didn't break off. Still usable. Wish it could go in dishwasher, but understand why it can't. Will cut through packed rice crispy treats and brownies. This is what you have to use with the non-stick pans.
