Excellent product! I used it this year for sun ...
Excellent product! I used it this year for sun protection on The Lost Coast and in the HighPyrenees. Keeps your head and shoulders cool and shady; and, when all else fails, its a good conversation starter on the trail! Getting rid of a hot sweaty hat and letting the breeze blow over your head is amazingly refreshing. Highly recommended for hiking when/where the sun will be relentless.

Where are you, Customer Service Warranty Department?
I like this umbrella a lot, but had one of the smaller opening spines break where it connects to the larger ribs (that shape the umbrella) and have not heard anything back from the company regarding filing for a warranty claim. Sent in photos along with copy or receipt as per instructions (easily within the 2 year warranty period) but they've been dead silent responding. The description of it on this page is not accurate; there is NO compass in the handle, at least not the one I purchased.Overall a pretty nice umbrella and appreciate the silver reflective outside coating which does help with keeping things cool underneath it, but lack of customer attention/service is piss-poor in my opinion. Umbrella has had little use and I wouldn't have expected this to break this easily. Will update if I hear back from the company.UPDATE: company came thru; replied to email and sent a new umbrella; yeah!!!

Buy a hat
Using this thimble sized umbrella in moderate rain left me soaked from the biceps down. I'd be better off wearing a hat. It may have some merit as a sun shield, but even in that case I think I'd be better off wearing a hat. $$ wasted...

Rib snapped at stem in the second storm I took it out in, soon as it got a good gust and inverted.

Just like to GoLite product which was discontinued
Just like to GoLite product which was discontinued.Gave it four stars because I didn't appreciate paying twice as much for this versionas for the GoLite version of the Chrome Dome, but what choice do I have?

Perfect for sunny trekking
I used this on a couple hikes, most notably a rim to rim hike across the Grand Canyon in August. Temps were in the 100s all day, and I was constantly in the shade with this product. It is very polarizing to the people that see you with it. Either you get complete and intentional lack of eye contact, or people say they wish they had one. I figured out how to attach it to my backpack's shoulder strap so I could still use trekking poles while the umbrella was deployed. I wish it were a little less expensive, but it has already proven its value. A very good buy.

I like it
Nice light weight, looks good, but I have not yet subjected it to a camping trip.

So far I like it!
I've only used this umbrella a handful of time. I mostly bought it for being in hot dessert weather. I will say it did feel cooler being under it than without it. I let my friend borrow it a few time since she really couldn't stand the heat and it seemed to work well for her. So far I like it!
