These crystals are really strong and do a great job of helping with congestion when used in a humidifier. Many humidifiers you buy in the store have a place to put Vick's type menthalatum or other Menthol infused pads that are captured by the steam when running.TAKE NOTE... They DO MELT at about 100f, and you WILL have a mess on your hands if you don't store them in a cool place. Just keep them in a refrigerator somewhere. Or, keep them in a known cool place. They last a long time.I also use them with coconut oil and use the combo for massage. These menthol crystals are super strong! Use very sparingly and with caution until you realize how potent they are. If you have skin or smell sensitivity (I have both), I suggest wearing a mask and gloves for first time use. Handle them like fresh habaneros or jalapenos. Do not touch them and then your skin. You might experience eye watering or skin burning just like with hot peppers. I used a spoon and tweezers to avoid touching them.My order arrived promptly and well packaged in a zip sandwich bag. My bag contained thin crystals, granules, and one large chunk. I carefully transferred the contents to a sterile jar and was able to reuse the label from the zip bag packaging.I recommend that you first reduce whatever amount you think you need by at least ¾ since these crystals are super powerful. You can gradually add more. Remember that if your preparation is in a closed container it will get stronger as it sits and mixes with other ingredients. I used the crystals for diy sinus decongestant inhalers. I worked over a large bowl to catch any excess crystals. Afterwards, I wiped the bowl with a couple of clean handkerchiefs, which will be great to carry and use during cold/flu season.I cannot emphasize how strong this product is and that it will get stronger with use. A little bit goes a very long way.

I've found that for aches and pains I like Zim's Max Freeze best. It has no heat like Icy Hot, Ben Gay, etc., just 7% menthol, and that icy feeling really works. So I got some Blue Emu that's only 2.5 % menthol and it's pretty lame in comparison. That's what got me searching for menthol on Amazon and I came across these. They are super cool. Just by looking at them you can see that they're unadulterated pure crystals. So I warmed the Blue Emu in the microwave for a short time and put about half a teaspoon of these crystals in. They dissolved almost instantly and I stirred them in. I don't know what percentage menthol I ended up with but, boy, it's icy and it works. I think I can make pain relief cream out of regular hand cream now, and this 4 oz bag should last a long, long time. Good value for the money considering how strong it is.

I used these for my Eucalyptus shower steamers that I was making for the holidays...The scent was an eye as well as nose opener when I opened it, lol, and when I used them in my steamers, it really made those that got my steamers rave over themWhen I do run out, I plan on buying more.

I bought it thinking this was a cheaper alternative to peppermint oil. It is not, but I'm very happy with the product. I initially wrap crystals in aluminum foil and slip it in the Vicks plugin vaporizer next to the bed. I can smell the menthol which helps me sleep better. Over night the crystals would completely vaporize. I then switched to the plug in candle tart warmer since it's too much trouble putting the crystals into the vaporizer. I poured some water into the candle tart warmer and dropped in half a teaspoon of crystals. The crystals would not dilute in the water but pool together in the middle. The menthol smell was faint at first since the water keeps the temperature low, but became very strong as soon as all the water vaporized. Over all I'm very glad I got this product, I got much better and longer sleep when I use it. However I need to experiment with this for a few more days to find the right way to use it. I just mixed it with extra virgin Olive oil and it seems to produce a more consistent vapor. I just need to find the right temperature to heat the mixture with so it will last all night.
