Runs a little big but overall I’m pleased
After using this harness for a bit, I’m increasing my rating. I still say the sizing is a bit off. However, despite it being a little loose, my dog has worn it without incident on most days. She hasn’t chewed it or shown any sign of being physically uncomfortable or irritated by it. We haven’t had her in situations where she really tried to get out of it, but it has done well for regular walking. She’s a little dog, so I always worry about harnesses that are inappropriately bulky... this one is just right. At this point, I recommend this harness with the caveat that it may be a little loose if your dog falls at the small end of the spectrum. My 5-6 lb chihuahua is using the small harness. She has the short legs, apple head, and bigger chest (vs the ‘deer’ chi’s with long legs and a more slender nose and build) in case you’re trying to figure out if the small would fit your chi.Original Review:Sizing is off... the small harness is pretty loose on my dog whose chest measures 15”... no way that works for a dog with a smaller chest, yet the sizing description says 12.5-15”. Maybe this wouldn’t matter in a brick-and-mortar store where returns are easy, but it’s a big deal when purchasing online. I’m definitely disappointed, given that I spent $25 on it.Aside from the sizing issue, it looks like a decent harness. I haven’t had it long enough to test things like durability. I wish it had a greater adjustment range for a more custom fit.I’ll update this review after I try it out for a bit.

Best harness I’ve found for a pug!
Would definitely recommend for pugs!Pros - soft suede straps that don’t rub, x-shaped design sits lower on the chestCons - lower fitting straps on the chest may make it easier for dog to slip backward out of harness if not under close supervision, softness of straps also means they slip a little bit and may require re-tightening at timesBefore finding the Gooby brand, I started off with a plain nylon harness but found that the portion of the harness under my pug’s neck would sit too high and looked uncomfortable. Also, the nylon wore the fur off of his armpit areas, where the harness wrapped around his chest, right behind his front legs. With the Gooby harness, the X-shape of the harness sits much lower on his chest and doesn’t look like it’s cutting into his neck when he sits. The band on the portion of the harness that goes around his chest has a super soft suede feel and the fur under his arms has grown back since switching to this harness. The only complaints I have are that the low, off the neck design makes it easier for him to pull backwards and slip out of the harness if he really wants to. The soft straps also allow them to slide a little over time, requiring occasional re-tightening (about once a month).

Perfect for one dog, too big for another
We have two of these, both size small. The first is for our 8 pound Pomeranian/Jack Russell Terrier mix and it fits her well. We keep it adjusted almost as big as it goes. She has very dense fur so it is snug, but not tight. I much prefer this design to the Puppia (which we also have) because it's easier to put on and the Puppia can be tight to go over her head (the neck isn't adjustable on those, it's just a hole). She has a Pomeranian mane and really the step-in style harness works well for her. For reference, this dog is small and compact, shaped like a wombat with dog legs. The 2nd is for our 7 pound long haired chihuahua- it's unfortunately too big for him. He is not scrawny like some chihuahuas, but he is long and lean with a narrow chest and waist. We tried it several times before deciding it just doesn't work for his long slender frame, even adjusted as small as possible. He's still young, so maybe it will eventually fit when he bulks up a bit and is less puppy shaped. For now, we have to go back to the Puppia or the Rogz utility harness we have.Pros of the Gooby:Much more adjustable than PuppiaDoesn't have to go over the head (step-in)The X shape doesn't put any pressure on their neck and doesn't cut into their under-legs (armpits?)Very easy to put on because it has a more defined shape than a traditional style step-in harness (like Rogz). My dogs are squiggly and jumpy and this is the best harness to put on them quickly an easily.Cons:It doesn't come in XS- if it did, we would absolutely buy another for our smallest dog.

Bad to good experience!
**as a follow up to my previous review, rather than returning, I opted to have a replacement sent, there were no extra charges involved and my replacement harness came FAST. I got it and tugged at everything a lot and this one seems great, very sturdy, and it fits on my little dog beautifully. I expect this to hold up this time. Despite getting a faulty product the first time around, I've had a good experience sorting it out. I advice anyone buying this to test it out in your home before walking your dog outside. If you have a strong dog, this harness wouldn't be your best option.I'm hoping I just happened to get a defective product, this is a well known high quality brand. It arrived seemed awesome, put it on my dog to try it on him and it immediately broke, one side of the clip wasn't sewn on at all so it came apart, the other side was only like half sewn on but I'm sure with a little more tugging it would come off as well. Very disappointed because I've been having such a hard time finding a harness for my little one and this would have been absolutely awesome for him if it wasn't broken into pieces.

Choke free and secure
Our dog was born with a hole in his throat (inside) and the top muscle there doesn't work. (a very rare congenital condition) so this harness is perfect not interfering with his throat at all. Apart from that he is a super healthy very muscular dog and he has never pulled himself out of this harness unlike other harnesses. Its very simple to put on and now that he has grown we don't need to adjust it although that was easy as well as he grew. Dogs with his condition usually die in first few months, we are blessed that he has learnt to manage his problems and they have not been compromised from a traditional collar and leash. Thank you so much for your brilliant design.

Inaccurate size
The 'Perfect Fit X' product indicated a Large would be 43cm chest size and up.My puppy has a 43cm chest, however it was hanging too loose on him even when I adjusted the strap. I think a 50cm chest should be the minimum for the Large size.

Relief at last.
What a great find.We have a Havanese Poodle with a tracheal collapse. We must have visited 2 dozen stores, tried close to a hundred harnesses and just could not find the right fit. Everything pulled on his neck to one degree or another. When searching online, we came across the Gooby Perfect Fit X. Even though he fit a small in all other harnesses, we opted for the medium Gooby, based on Amazon.com ratings.I ordered Thursday evening and had it the next day before noon.We couldn't be happier. The fit on his neck is perfect. When measuring your dog for size, refer to the Gooby site and look at the illustration. The placement of the tape measure around the neck from sternum to the top of the shoulders. For a regular harness our dog measures 8-9 inches but for the Gooby he measures 14 inches. Measure carefully. The other thing we like is the soft suede like material.Highly recommend this harness.***Small edit. Two very minor faults with this harness, neither of which affect it's fit or our satisfaction.--as with most other harnesses with two "D" rings for leash attachment; the D rings could be larger.--there is a small D ring, attached to the lower right front with a flimsy piece of silk like fabric; probably intended for attaching the dog license. We did just that and after a day and a half, the D ring had cut half way through the fabric. As well, since our little guy loves the bush, there is the potential for it to get caught on many things out there. Gooby..get rid of it.

Good Harness!
We've had this for about 8 months now and it's holding up very well.It fits my Cavalier King Charles perfectly (26lbs) and she's comfortable in it I can tell.I had to repair the plastic clasp because Dolly decided to make it a chew toy...lolIf the clasp was made with much thicker plastic or perhaps of steel it would be more durable and last longer. The good news is that because of the design even when the clasp was broken the harness was still functional. The two metal rings to attach the leash to hold the parts together so the clasp does not matter at that point.Genius!
