iZotope Spire Studio - Quality Recording Studio Hardware

To put this review in context, I am a serious amateur music creator. I am currently working with an opera trained vocalist on a number of demo tracks, doing covers of popular ballads.For final recording I would normally use a Universal Audio interface running a number of plug in, attached to microphones ranging from a Rode NT1/A, an Aston Origin and an Aston StarlightInitially I bought this little recording device so that my vocalist could practice the phrasing of the songs she was performing, so really a rehearsal tool, which allowed easy play back and listening to her performancesWe used the built in mic for this, but were so impressed with the quality of the built in mic, we plugged in the more pro level equipment. Whilst the external mics were better, it wasn't a night and day difference and the built in mic could actually be good enough for final recording if used in a sound treated room.What else to say. other good pointsFabulously easy to use via phone or iPad appGreat battery life. I got over 5 hours of recording from a chargeTwo headphone outputs48v phantom power for both external mic inputsGood range of built in effects for recording, such as reverb, or amp simulation for recording electric guitars directly plugged inEasy export of the tracks to your dawSome shortcomingsThe effects are always recorded, and you can't record clean and then add the effects afterwards (without exporting to a daw)Need a phone or iPad to access the full range of functions (such as the recording effects)Doesn't come with a case or bag, and it's shape makes it awkward to pack and carry around (optional case is stupidly expensive at £50)Got to say I love this thing though, does what I expected and bought it for, but sound quality is way better than I was expecting. The Isotope Spire Studio is a fantastic bit of kit, for somebody like me who has no about recording, you can instantly record ideas, I have been using it in conjunction with Novation Bass Station 2, great fun.

Unburden your imagination and get your musical ideas in the ether before they evaporate. Let your imagination run riot. Easy to use and delivers so much at a reasonable price.

I've had this product for more than two years. The hardware is great and the Android app, although limited in functionality, worked well. Now I can't export anything I record on the hardware because the connection with the app drops. Endless reboots, reconnects and reinstalls have sadly made no difference, making the hardware effectively useless.

Present for my fiancé he is pleased with it and has already recorded music on it

Wow, the sound quality is amazing, can't get better at this price you'd have to use a full recording studio to get the quality of sound in my opinion, crystal clear, the mic is so powerful. I wish there was more music/audio effects/tracks to overlay with. But that being said I love how easy it is to upload/share the recordings , can convert into any format and then overlay on other sound/mixing suite. Hoping in a future update the app allows more than 8 recordings, can film up quickly when one had had a drink or two! Finally be careful you don't mix up the power cable with an other, I did that and accidentally blew it so having to buy another (brought my 1st from Izatope direct, brought this via Amazon due to massive discount.
