When it works it is great. Hard to get parts
This is my second one of these. Not the sellers fault. Sure heat themselves are hard to reach, and don't have a clue. The Flame sensor for The LP version seems to be not available from them, they sent 3 of them at different times and they were all wrong. I dropped one of the logs and broke the flame sensor. My fault. I almost threw the entire Log set away because of the no parts issue. So many people complain about them not working after 1 month or so. The problem is Always the 4 AA batteries or that darn flame sensor. (Batteries Only last up to 1 month of continual use) They don't recommend an AC power supply however their is 1 listed in the owners manual. Again Parts department issue at Sure Heat.

Instructions are lacking but when get working it is terrific. Instructions in the box did not match the remote the unit came with and when finally found online by searching for "sure heat AEVF18FANG" they too are not great as far as pairing the remote, usage or placement of the logs. After many weeks of it turning itself off intermittently and going back and forth found out that the logs must be placed with flat edges on bottom on the metal. Could not get the auto pilot light function to work consistently without it beeping incessantly. In pilot always on mode it works great.

Sureheat service was great.
Unit worked fine for 2 months, then pilot went out and would not relite. Their service was really good, sent pictures of things to check. Then another tech got on phone to check several things together. He then sent 2 parts by UPS which we received in 3 days. Installed new parts, still would not light. Tech called me back 1st thing next morning and helped get unit working. John at service, Sureheat, was very helpful. We are at 6500 feet and that may have been part of our problem. Unit really looks great when lite and provides a good amount of heat. I would buy again, but would probably buy the extra warrenty offered by Amazon.

Do No Buy This Item
Horribly designed. The designed placement of the top logs results in flame impingement on those logs. The impingement creates soot as the flames cannot burn clean and efficient. This will put soot into your home. Also, the batteries fit poorly in the power tray for the burner unit and keep dislodging slightly so that power is lost. It also doesn't help that the open top tray has to be inserted upside-down into the unit. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM.

Worked for 3 weeks. now will not light
Like most here experienced, this thing worked OK for about 3 weeks. Then it started not lighting every time, now it won't light at all. It clicks, the pilot lights, but the main burner does not come on. I spent $100 having it installed. I'll be sending it back, and although I love Amazon, I won't but an appliance online again.

Piece of JUNK!
This thing is a piece of junk for the money, the batteries have fallen out of the fire unit, making it impossible to remove, have had to replace the batteries twice in only 2 months of service. Keeps cutting out, and logs are flaking.

Unreliable until it just completely stopped working.
When this gas log worked it was attractive. That being said it was unreliable at best and not less than two years in the electronics in it have broken and the repair guy told me to just buy something else and to save the hassle. I would give it a zero star if I could.

Taken twice
The pilot would not light. I was out $70.00 for an installation fee and there is something wrong with the pilot ignition. Installer said some parts were missing as well. I did not get a refund instead Amazon put it as credit. So much for refund!!
