Works Great
Steelman makes a lot of speciality automotive tools that do the job. I got this on to chase 12mm 1.25 Subaru wheel studs. Its a 2 piece tool that allows You to start in the middle of the stud and then chase the threads in either direction. It does a great job without cutting more threads. Cleans up the threads only.

Perfect
worked like a charm. My damaged threads were at the tip of the bolt, This die is narrow enough to get behind the damaged area and I was able to turn it toward the damaged threads. Worked like a charm and would highly recommend. Thank you

Saved my bacon
After a national tire and battery company ruined another set of rims and tried to sell us a bunch of unnecessary work they decided to cross thread the lug nuts. Fortunately they were not bad and the nuts themselves took most of the damage. This saved me hours of work and possibly saved me from having to buy other parts just to replace the studs. I think a kit of these should be in every toolbox

Worked but wore out quickly
Worked, but its threads went flat after 2 studs with smashed threads. I used cutting oil and went slowly and carefully but I think the material is a little too soft.Maybe ok for an emergency, but if you need to repair more than a few studs there’s probably a better option.
