It works...
After suffering a broken right wrist, I find it difficult to apply cutting pressure using a normal knife. My physiotherapist recommended something like this, and it works really well for me. It lets me cut my bagel with a straight wrist.

Good knife
Once you've used a knife with this sort of handle, you'll want one. For many purposes -- not just cutting bread -- it is a much more ergonomic way to hold a knife. The knife itself is of good quality, although not as heavily-made as I might have liked. It is very sharp. My teenage son cut himself with it immediately, so watch for that.

Makes slicing bread easy
I have severe dexterity issues, but this knife makes cutting homemade bread, even bread with a hard crust, easy to cut.

Great knife design for anyone with thumb or hand problems or surgery
Works great. I had hand surgery in January (trapeziectomy surgery) . PT gave me a catalog with helpful tools. It had the chef's knife featured, which I bought along with a smaller serrated knife. I love cooking and these knives allow me to dice & slice to my heart's desire. My husband got me the bread knife for my b'day. Love it!

Helps with my bum thumb!
Makes sawing through various foods easier when my arthritic thumb is flaring up. That said, the gauge of the teeth is a bit off for cutting bread. Kind of tears up freshly baked bread, but still worth trying if you have hand or write issues.

This knife has become my wife's favorite knife, as she has RA other knives are painful to use. But, it's not serrated as advertised. The product is holding an edge well and I would recommend it to anyone, not just those with arthritis . The only reason for dropping a star is for the lack of serrations.
