Challenging but fun
Last month we pulled out of the game closet our 1989 Taboo game. The six-year-old could not play, so we purchased this game designed for an 8-year-old. She reads. I had read online that someone could whisper words to the younger child and suggest clue words to give.We have played every child and every adult word. Some of the words are probably not age appropriate for a 6-year-old and maybe an 8-year-old. A few examples of some of the harder children's words: robotics, bath bomb, messenger bag, solar system, activist, troll, Vlog, Hollywood, Shirley Temple, Supervillain, and Mohawk. I think we may have to selectively pull the cards that she knows and can read. The adult words that are not physical objects are sometimes difficult to give clues to discover the answer. In the adult 1989 version there is a stand on which you place the cards and flip them up once the correct answer is discovered. This is not in the children's version. It is easier to use the stand, but the children's and adult cards are too small to fit. So, we put them on the stand, slanting to one side. Maybe they may no longer put a stand in the new editions.

Great family game night for 8+
We had a blast playing this over Christmas break! The kids almost won 🙃 I will say the game is best for 8+, or at least strong readers and one that can grasp the general idea of explaining a word in more ways than one. You have to think! The game comes with a squeaker instead of a buzzer and I MUCH prefer the buzzer. The squeaky is unusable if you have pets. Our dog was so confused on why we were taunting him w a squeaker “toy” we eventually had to quit using it.

Classic Game
I loved playing this game in my childhood and was excited at the chance to share this game with my niece and nephew during a fun family game night. They are on the younger side, so to have a version with easier words and fewer forbidden words made it so they could play along as well. In all of these years the concept of the game hasn't changed and is still loads of fun. My only issue with the game, and it's the reason for my 4 star review as well, is that they removed the battery operated buzzer and replaced it with a rubber squeaker. It could be just me; however, the faint squeak of the squeezer doesn't compare to the fairly loud buzz sound that used to accompany this game. Maybe one day they'll go back to a version like that for the nostalgic ones of us.

Great fun! A classic game that is new every time it's played.
I enjoy the adult version and was pleased to see a version has been made that combines both children and adults to play at the same time. This is for my young granddaughter. If it works better, she can just use the children's cards for all players. As she gets older, the game grows with her and she can enjoy it at a new level. This is very good for increasing vocabulary, word meanings and creative thinking and a lot of fun and laughs.
